Mis Pensamientos Me Consumen ~ 2024
Medium: Acrylic on Ceramic Mid-range, cone 10
Size: 4 x 7.5 x 6 inches
Our mind is beautiful; It allows our thoughts to wander as far as we want them to. When I let my thoughts wander too far, they always seem to go to a beautiful moment in time. A moment, where I finally get to meet my family from El Salvador. In-person and not just through a small phone screen 3,307 miles away. The thought is bittersweet and consumes me from time to time.
However, just like when the ripened fruit on a marañón (cashew fruit) tree falls, I must also fall back down to reality. This skull covered in traditional Salvadoran folk art interprets the thought that consumes me time and time again.
